The Breast Cancer Beaded Quilt | Jeanette Shanigan lost her mother to breast/bone caner in 1985. According to the American Cancer Association, breast cancer is the most common cancer threat to women. Many of us know someone whose life has been affected in some way by breast cancer.
Jeanette wanted to do something special in memory of her mother. The annual Bead Artists Against Breast Cancer fund raising auction held by Bead & Button Magazine inspired her to invite her Yahoo group to donate a beaded square to be included in a beaded quilt for the auction. The first beaded quilt raised $500 for the cause; the 2nd beaded quilt raised $1,025!!
This year Jeanette would like to invite beaders the world over to submit squares for the 2007 Breast Cancer Beaded Quilt project. To date she has received 45 squares. Join Jeanette and the caring community of beads help raise money for breast cancer research and stitch a square for the cause. There's still plenty of time, the due date is not until April 1, 2007.
